Carolyne Christine Melson

Carolyne Christine Melson has been dancing with Danny Nguyen sinse July 2007. She is a passionate artist, in both Visual and Performing Arts, who loves life, beauty and love. Carolyne has danced and performed on professional stages for over 20 years nationally, internationally, and locally. She has a Degree is in Visual Communications, specializing in Fashion/Costume Design, with a minor in Theater. Carolyne is a San Francisco Bay Area native, born in Berkeley CA and raised in El Sobrante CA. Carolyne is a Modern Dancer with a strong background in Classical Ballet and Jazz. Starting at the age of 5, she received her early training in dance with Oakland Ballet with Director and Founder Ronn Guidi. Her Theater background started at the age of 14 with Woodminster Summer Stock Musicals. She went on to perform with local dance, theater, and production companies, as a dancer, singer, and actress in such companies as Oakland Ballet, Richmond Ballet, Nuba Dance Theater, Black Berkeley Rep., Lorraine Hansberry Theater, Berkeley Rep., Berkeley Shakespeare, and Fad Productions.

Carolyne’s most recent performing experience before coming back home to the Bay Area was with AVAZ International Dance Theater in Los Angeles CA, with Anthony Shay as Founding Artistic Director and Jamal Artistic Director. As a member of that company for 7 years, Carolyne became one of Jamal’s Principal dancers and lead soloist, as well as one of his Assistant Artistic Directors. Through her many performances with AVAZ which traveled throughout the United States, she garnered rave reviews from dance critics, of which one was with the LA Times as well as the general public. She plans to replant her seeds here in the Bay Area, Where she first began her journey in the Arts.
